Description
Engaged to provide strategic advice and manage the communications to enable the approval and construction of the region’s first alcohol and drug rehabilitation centre (therapeutic community model), this highly contentious project required strategic planning and carefully executed engagement to build trust with the local community and respond to community opposition.
Project Outcomes
During the engagement we successfully worked with stakeholders and the local media to change the narrative from fear to an acknowledgement that addiction is a health issue that requires a health solution. The outcome was local government support for the development and broad community support for what is now a respected local facility delivering rehabilitation service to the Mid West region.
